Canon PIXMA IP100 Digital Photo Inkjet Printer
The basic setup for the iP100 is typical for small inkjets. For most of my tests, I use a USB connection to a PC running Windows Vista. But I also connect from an Android phone using the printer’s Access Point mode to confirm it’s easy to connect and print that way too. Switching the printer to Access Point mode involves holding the button down and calculating the flash of the status light, which is quite easy, but the details you should see in the user guide. After the printer is set correctly, connecting from the telephone is also standard.
The print speed on our tests is near the high end of the range for current plants from portable inkjets. I timed the iP100 on our business application suite at 2.3 pages per minute (ppm), which makes it faster than most of the closest competition, including the HP Officejet 100 Mobile printer, at 1.8 ppm, and Epson WF-100 workforce at 2.2ppm . Strangely, however, the speed is a little slower than 2.5 ppm I timed it for the Canon iP100. As another point of comparison, it’s also significantly slower than far-less-expensive, though bigger, the HP Officejet Pro 6230 ePrinter, our choice of medium-priced home editors or personal desktop inkjet printers, which comes at 3.4 ppm.
